The best way I know how to explain Maricar and Delan is to start with Maricar, as it is she I've had the longest time to get to know. And the best way I can explain Maricar is by describing her infectious upbeat personality which seems to gravitate towards absolutely anyone. At a weekend of camping in the Glasshouse Mountains last year, Maricar was not content to socialise just with the 10 or more people in our camp group and so befriended all the other campers in the park. When it came time to leave she bid each individual goodbye. She knew them all by name, and they had all learned hers also.
Driving home to Brisbane, she mentioned a man who was then living in the United States. It wasn't long before her enthusiastic love for life had brought him to Australia, along with a request for her hand. And who could blame him.
Maricar and Delan were married at Orleigh Park in West End on a beautiful winters day. Brisbane shines in winter and it makes me wonder why more weddings don't take place then. This was a simple wedding that happened with the assistance of many good friends who donated their time and effort to make it a success. I was very glad to be a part of it. This is also the first wedding I've done where I've been able to incorporate film into the process and I'm very pleased with the results. Most of my favourite images from this day are the ones taken on film.
